I just got started a few weeks back at CragX and am looking for someone to belay with or perhaps just give me some advice on the what's what of climbing.

Anyone willing to give a newbie a shot or some advice on where to boulder?

Fleming Beach would be an easy one to get to, but is perhaps one of the less exciting options. Hartland (aka Cyberia) has some more interesting boulders, but I'm not aware of any especially easy problems there. There are some other choices out there as well, but having not been to them myself, I can't say much about them.

To get to Fleming from the climbing gym, cross the Bay St. bridge and continue along Bay St. and make a right when you hit Esquimalt Rd. Then make a left at Lampson St. and follow it until the road ends. Then make a right, followed by taking the first left. You'll end up in a parking lot with a very brief walk to a catwalk right along the shore with a face that can be traversed.

I believe you need a pass to climb there, for insurance reasons. There's a sign near the entrance that states the cost and where to get it. I can't remember where to pick it up, but it's cheap and it's worth it to have an area to climb in within the city without being viewed as a nuisance.
